While browsing pintrest I found a lasagna soup recipe from http://www.afarmgirlsdabbles.com/
and decided to come up with my own. It is super easy and I put my in the crock pot!

 CROCK POT LASAGNA SOUP

1 can whole peeled tomatoes
1 can of tomato sauce
1 pound grond turkey
half of white onion chopped
a couple garlic cloves chopped
lasagna noodles
garlic salt
pepper
mozzarella cheese
parmasean cheese

1. In a skillet fully cook 1 pound of ground turkey. Season with garlic salt and pepper to taste.

2. Place 6 cups of chicken broth, chopped onion, garlic salt, pepper, 1 can of whole peeled tomatoes and half a can of tomato sauce in the crock pot on high.

3. Mash up whole tomatoes in the crock pot and mix everything up. Let it heat for about an hour then break up all of your lasagna noodles and place in the crock pot. Put the lid on and let heat up and cook the noodles for a few more hours.

growing green onions

Here is a quick little tip that I found on Pintrest and tried myself...I PINNED IT & DID IT! This week has been super busy for me. A date with my hubby, taking care of the kids, getting tax stuff together, cleaning the house, laundry and trying to meet a photoshoot deadline for tomorrow. That means lots of NEW jewelry to be made! I will give deets later on what the photoshoot is for! Super excited!! Make sure to check out my jewelry... www.facebook.com/terynashleyjewelry and become a fan!

Green onion tip!!
After using your green onions and cutting to the white, place in a glass of water and they will keep growing! When I placed mine in water they were only up to half of the cup. It has been about a week and look how much they've grown! It's amazing!

Try it and you won't have to buy green onions a lot.

Now I'm off to clean my house and create new jewelry pieces for the photoshoot! Let the creativity flow!

my laundry room journey

Have you ever been so indecisive about a paint color that you keep chaning it? I just couldn't make up my mind! One day while at Lowe's I checked the mistinted paint like I always do and I found a pretty sorta aqua color. I didn't know what I was gonna do with it yet but I grabbed it for $2.50. I ran home and the next day decided to paint my laundry room with it.  So heres what it looked like on the wall
I loved the cool tone and it was kinda kinda beachy ...perfect for what I was gonna do. BUT there wasn't enough in the can for 2 coats and it needed it bad...=( FAIL I didn't have a sticker on the can to say what it was and I didnt want to have to mess with color matching and so on.

My dad is in a MAJOR home makeover...just bought a house and basically is gutting and starting over all DIY. Thats where I got my love of power tools but thats a different story....so with doing his house he bought 22 YES 22 gallons of paint in the wrong color...so who do you think took those 22 gallons? ME!!

Yesterday I took a gallon to Home Depot and had it re-tinted...YES you can do that! So this is the color I picked out...

The paint color is FRESH GUACAMOLE by Glidden... I slapped it on the wall @ 11pm last night and no bueno. Not because the color isn't beautiful but it just didn't turn out like I wanted it to with my lighting and the look I'm going for. Late last night it looked BRIGHT green...maybe it was because it was night time and the lighting but maybe because I was so tired and not thinking right. I couldn't make up my mind whether or not I'd want to proceed.
This picture truly doesnt show how bright it looked last night. I was scared of the bright color! I'm usually NEVER afraid of trying anything DIY or with color but this wasn't doing it for me. sooo at 11pm and tired as heck I did this...
PRIMED and PRIMED! whew back to my comfort zone...Now there is still a lot of work to do...painting the walls is the first step. Back to Home Depot to have another gallon re-tinted. You'll have to wait and see what I picked out!
Back to my laundry room journey!

creating a flow of colors in your home

I've been thinking a lot lately on how to harmonize my color pallete in my home. I've been "trying" for it to all flow together but somehow feel like it's off. When I first moved in I painted all the main areas of the home beige and it was before I decided to go light and add shabby pieces. Here is the beige color...
So with that at my neutral I need to pick some other colors that flow together. Kinda easier said than done because I can't make up my mind for the kitchen and accent colors for a few rooms.

I'm really loving the aqua and yellow thing going on and I definitely want something to brighten up the rooms! I want it to feel bright and cheery not drab like it's feeling now.

HERE IS MY COLOR pallete INSPIRATION

This is the chair pads I have in my dining room...the photo makes it look brighter than what it is but I LOVE everything about this....the aqua, yellow, green and different blues.

I used http://www.mycolortopia.com/ to see what other colors would go with it...

Pineapple Sorbet
Classic Key Lime
Mint Shake
Almost Aqua
Soft Meadow
Khaki Green
Classic Key Lime
Sea Glass Green
Teal Lake
Silver Birch

I love the Almost aqua, mint shake and silver birch with a light yellow.

Here are some tips from MyColortopia.com blog written by Ana White.

With today’s open floor plans, it has become more difficult to give separate spaces their own personality, yet still blend with adjoining rooms harmoniously. Use these seven tips to blend your space from room to room, layer by layer, creating integrity and harmony throughout your home.

1. Be Inspired. Adding color to your entire home is like adding color to a single room, just on a larger scale. Inspiration becomes a map that can guide you through the process. Find inspiration from artwork, photos of a special vacation, or just the colors of nature outside of your home. Pull colors from the inspiration and use throughout your home.

2. Choose 3–5 Colors. From your inspiration, choose two or three neutral colors and one or two accent colors. By limiting your color palette to three to five colors, your home will feel well-thought-out and simple, not cluttered and confusing. TIP: Consider accent colors of a complimentary hue to add interest and contrast to your home.

3. Choose Colors with the Same Undertones or in the Same Color Family. What makes a beige the right beige? Or a white the perfect white? Every color, even a neutral, has an undertone. Stick to the same undertones, or colors in the same family, to create a harmonious home.

4. Alternate Neutral and Accent Colors. Once your colors scheme has been selected, consider alternating neutrals with accent colors in your home. Placing bright accent colors side by side may come across too bold and competitive. Neutrals side by side lacks interest and will make your walls appear flat and uninteresting. By alternating neutral and accent colors, walls appear at different depths, giving a visual break from room to room, helping you visually divide up open rooms.

5. Match Moldings. Matching moldings in all your rooms by painting the trim white or staining wood trim the same color will bring the different colored rooms together, while still allowing each to have its own color personality.

6. Define with Furnishings, Rugs, Curtains, and Upholstery. With walls painted in an inspired and harmonious color scheme, furnishings, rugs, curtains and upholstery can help define each room and give your space even more personality. The walls may match, but the rooms can each be distinct and unique. Look to your original inspiration, but focus on the accent colors in each room to bring in layers of texture, patterns and movement to create your blended, colorful home.

7. Remind with Accessories. Accessories are a final opportunity to tie the rooms back together, reminding rooms of shared color. Consider adding three elements to each room in a favorite accent color. For example, in the living room, add yellow pillows and a yellow throw; in the dining room, add a vase of yellow flowers and yellow cushions to the chairs; in the kitchen, add a jar of yellow lemons, and a few yellow dishes.

Now off to blend!!

design style trends for 2012 part 1

Today is officially the last day of my nanny job...whew I survived! I haven't been away from home 50+ hours a week since 2006. My babies miss me and I will be glad to be back home with them and decorating as I please. This whole month I've barely touched anything DIY (hence the missing DIY posts) sad face. I'm itching to paint! I did however manage to start painting the laundry room. YAY! BUT I still have to edge it in and all that fancy stuff....that will be another post entirely....While at the grocery store to get the kids root beer float stuff as my farewell gift, I picked up an inexpensive decor magazine...swoon and now my creative juices are flowing and i'm motivated! So here are 2 of their top design trends for 2012!

1. ROMANTIC

All things casual, elegant and feminine. Lush fabrics, floral patterns, lace, richly carved woodwork, pastel color palette and painted furniture.
-A mix of textures-lace, leather and velvet
-Carefully placed lighting will add to the mood of the room and antique mirrors help brighten up the space
-Place fringed and button seating or loosley filled sofas in your bedroom to create a sitting area
-Distressed white woodwork enchances the romance
 *Tips from http://www.seraoflondon.com/
MY TIP- fresh pastel colored flowers such as baby pink or white roses and candles add to this romantic feel.

RETRO FEMININE
Less than other girly styles of recent years, the retro feminine design mystique is defined by it's mix of old and new furniture, curvy lines and flowy fabrics
-The bed is central in any bedroom...choose one you absolutely love!
-Set up special areas of the room. Add unexpected pieces such as a pair of upholstered armchairs, a charming small table or perhaps an antique settee
-mix it up. Blending antiques with more modern pieces, elegant with casual, encourages design that doesnt take itself too seriously.
-add fresh color. keep your color palette soft but creat effortless elegance by adding a vivid color for a fresh pop.
-create a beautiful bed. A linen divet with just a hint of tiny ruffles is the perfect base then arrange floral pillows, soft colored throws and antique embroidered throws
-add some gilt. Gold add instant elegance but just a touch will do
-Bring a splash of style to your bedroom with sensational lighting. Try hanging 2 chandeliers on each side of your bed for instant glamour.
-Personalize with accessories. Your bedroom is the perfect place to display those one of a kind quirky things you love.
-Don't forget flowers. Nothing adds as much style as a simple bouquet of flowers.

my little secret part un

The Color Pictures, Images and Photos

Want salon colored hair but don't want to pay the price?

Well if you are like me and have kids then you don't have time to spend a few hours getting pampered just to color your hair!

That's where I come in!

To the RESCUE!!

I personally sometimes use Paul Mitchell color for these reasons but you dont HAVE to plus I get them at a professional beauty supply store.... In my opinion you can geat an amazing hair color from Sallys too! Use Loreal!

It is less chemically harsh on my hair.

My hair feels so much softer and shinier when I'm done coloring

There is more moisture in my hair

And well it's pretty good!

The only problem for YOU is that you don't have access to a pro beauty supply to purchase PM color and for that I'm truly sorry!

So without further a do...I give you...

HOW TO MIX YOUR OWN COLOR without a kit!

For you I suggest going to your local beauty store like Sally's beauty supply

You will need(for a full head one color and If your like me and have mucho thick hair I use 2 tubes)

1.Photobucket
Color tube of your choice of brand and color.

2.Photobucket
20 volume creme developer

3.Photobucket
Mixing bowl with measurements inside

4.Photobucket
Whisk for mixing color evenly.

5.Photobucket
Color applicator brush

6.Photobucket
color tube key is always nice to have to get all the color out of the tube to the last drop!

Now that you have everything together mix equal parts of color and creme developer in your mixing bowl

depending on how much color you normally use for how much hair you have...

2oz of color to 2oz creme developer or 3oz of color to 3oz creme developer.

now whisk together smoothly.

apply to hair with brush applicator and you can put a shower cap over your head or nothing!

wait as long as you would like!

Personally I leave my PM color on for 45 mins to an hour but it depends on how dark you want your color to get!
Then rinse with cool water and wash and condition!
Now you look Fab!

NOTE: This tutorial is for going DARKER not lighter...post on going lighter later! P.S I am NOT a professional stylist BUT while working for Paul Mitchell I did pick up quite a bit of info and tricks!
